Prince of Persia: Warrior Within ReviewThough not as old with so many games as the Star Wars series or as successful as the Lord of the Rings games, Prince of Persia boasts one of the greatest fighting systems and also one of the most confusing storylines of our time. With the first in the series not selling as well as it should of, Warrior Within was recognised as a game significantly improved over it's predecessor.
The main improvement over the first is the new free form fighting system, allowing you to utilize your environments and other enemies to annihilate the Persian demons that confront you and your time bending powers.
The powers of time come from the mysterious sands in the title of the first Prince of Persia. And now, as you have cheated time and surpassed your own death. An indestructible demon from hell pursues you to seal the rift in time and reassure your fate. Even in the games very first FMV you see the poor boy about to be destroyed by an unknown something ripping up the street.
It really isn't a happy game. The doomed prince has had his dark and evilness rate toned to eleven and his new moves show enemies ripped in half with a flurry of beautiful crimson red or decapitated and left to slump to the ground in a broken and battered heap like an old rag.
All of this may sound appealing until you get round to how frustratingly difficult warrior within is. Even the most seasoned and experienced gamer is guaranteed to be grid locked on at least one puzzle leaving the their entire thought on that one thing as they work or watched even watch TV. The point is, warrior within is not recommended for anyone not up to a good challenge. And because of this one point, the game seems to last for ages and if anyone decides they are bored and gives the game a replay. It feels totally new as you could spend days working out you had to climb the vines and jump from one wall ledge to the other doing the impossible. To complete the game you must be able to recognise your environments. Which on another subject, are more beautiful than real life.
And now for the overall rating. Buy this if you want a real challenge, as it's not worth renting, as you'll never complete it that way. But if your someone who crumbles to dust under such a game. I would recommend something easier. Like Enter the Matrix or the first Prince of Persia. This review was added on 21st August 2005 by Thomas jack jenkins. |
