Rayman Advance ReviewDoes anyone like running around aimlessly collecting stuff... no. Does anyone like jumping, shooting, swimming and climbing in a vibrant world with bonuses at every corner. Yes.
This well - designed game sees you trying to collect as many lums as possible. It features old characters like Murphy, Ly and Globox and new enemies like the hoodlums. The worlds are vibrant and full off life, it shows that 2D gaming isn't dead and is really fun to play. The 3D bonus levels really test the power of the GBA, and they look pretty flawless. The sprites are pretty good with brilliant animation.
Rayman can shoot, jump and climb around the levels, bursting cages and smashing enemies. Though, for some weird reason, after the first few levels, the gameplay starts to feel somewhat repititive and you know you've seen it all before. But you keep playing and have fun with it.
The music seems like it was imported from Rayman 2, but it's still pretty good and the GBA handles it with ease. The voice overs are the same as before and aren't in one bit chirpy. If you're lucky enough to own a Gamecube Version of the game and a GC - GBA cable, you can download 11 bonus levels and play a 2 player mini - game on the GC. It's a brilliant, vibrant but somewhat repitive game.
Graphics 92% 'Colourful'
Not one bit drab or dull. It gives loads of GBA games a run for their money. The 3D levels are handled perfectly as well.
Sound/Music 85% 'Too classic'
There isn't much new music, in fact most of it is from Rayman 2. But it still sounds great and the voiceovers will have some people crying.
Gameplay 71% 'The same on every level'
It's fun to play and it works perfectly. It's just too repetitive and feels like it's been in healthier competitors.
Value 83% 'Not every penny'
You aren't going to play this for hours on end, you'll get bored. But if you play it in 3 level bursts then it'll last you a long time. Theres a multiplayer as well and Gamecube Link-up in it for you as well (if you have the money).
