Super Smash Bros Melee ReviewThis is game is old now, and yet feels new everytime you play it. That's how a game should be, every single time you switch on.
It's all about fighting with 25 of your favourite nitnendo stars. It follows the same lines as the first game, beating up each other. There are loads of modes to go on, and over 300 trophies each with information to collect. Adventure mode where you battle your way through loads of characters in varied challenges, and even get the chance to play with Mario in a classic 2D style. Then there's classic mode, where you just battle to the end...
...but by far the most addictive mode is the multiplayer. Up to 4 players smashing up each other in an arena. It's bril! And you can even edit the stock, time and add crazy twists like Giant Mode and Slow Mode. It's really fun.
There are loads of items to battle with, which can be disabled at your choice. The graphics are smooth, with brilliant character models, spectacular 3D (not 2D) effects and loads of locations. You can even play in classic N64 arenas!
This one that belongs in you're collection and is only £20 (€30/€32) as a player's choice.
Graphics 94% 'Manically good'
The graphics are smooth and so well detailed. The detail goes right down to the single strands of fur.
Sound/Music 91% 'Punch-uped classics'
The music is of very high standard and is pleasant to listen to. It's taking right from the original games. Fox's world has Fox's tune. The narrator is loud though.
Gameplay 98% 'Kick, smack, magic sword'
The gameplay is as good as ever, with powerful punches, special attacks and new items. One thing that is troubling is the fact that some characters are 'clones' of others(they have essentially the same attacks). In some cases(like Link and Young Link) this is acceptable. But there is no reason for Mewtwo to have exactly the same attacks as Samus.
Value 97% 'You'll be punching for years'
This will be addictive for generations. It never loses it's taste or style and really sets the standard for beat-em-ups.
