Nintendo DS to see UK launch on 11th March

Nintendo announced today that their latest handheld games console, the Nintendo DS (Dual Screen), will be launched in the UK on 11th March of this year.

The device, which has already been available for several weeks now in North America and Japan, where approximately 3,000,000 units have already been sold, will be competing with two other handheld games consoles, Sony's PSP, and the Gizmondo, both of which are expected to see a UK launch in the first quarter of 2005.

Nintendo's current schedule sees 15 games released on our shores along with the console itself, including Super Mario 64 DS, Pokemon Dash, The Urbz and Rayman DS. The DS is also fully backwards compatible with Nintendo's previous handheld, the Gameboy Advance, which currently has in excess of 550 titles available in the UK.
