Gizmondo possibly to see UK launch on 19th March

After months of delays, it seems that a solid release date for Tiger Telematics' Gizmondo portable games console has finally been set. On the morning of 19th March 2005, the Gizmondo shop on Regents Street in London will open, and we can reasonably assume that this will also be the formal launch of the console.

Unlike the more high-profile upcoming releases of the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, the media have been largely kept in the dark in terms of specific dates. The Giz was originally planned to hit stores in October of last year, but the release date has been continually pushed back - possibly so it's not considered to be older than it's two main rivals.

Unlike the majority of past games consoles, the Gizmondo will be unleased in the United Kingdom before the rest of the world. The system is tipped for a Scandanavian release in mid-April, followed by a launch in the rest of Western Europe and the United States in May.
