It's official: Gizmondo to be released on 19th March

Gizmondo Europe announced today that the Gizmondo handheld games console will be released in the UK on March 19th, coinciding with the opening of it's flagship store at 175 Regent Street, London.

The price of the device at launch will be a somewhat sizeable £229, with individual games costing between £9.99 and £29.99. Although costing more than the competitors of the DS from Nintendo and PSP from Sony, the Giz may still prove a popular purchase based on it's wealth of features, mostly notably it's GPS function.

Carl Freer, Managing Director, Gizmondo, says: "Gizmondo is the British challenger in a market that will witness a spectacular boom this year. We've been able to introduce exciting new features like GPS into gaming, and with such a remarkable list of features, the Gizmondo is the most powerful, feature-laden piece of multi-entertainment hardware available."
