Halo 2 multiplayer expansion pack announcedMicrosoft Game Studios have announced that nine new multiplayer maps will become available for the Xbox's hugely successful first-person shooter, Halo 2. The maps will be available for download using Xbox Live, and those without access to the console's online gaming service will be able to purchase the maps in retail stores like any normal game.
The new maps will see a staggered release on Xbox Live, the first two (titled Containment and Warlock) of which will be free and available in a "few short weeks". At an unspecified later date, two more maps (Sanctuary and Turf) will go on sale at the price of US$5.99 (approximately £3), followed by the remaining five maps on 28th June for US$11.99 (£6). The retail box containing all nine maps will be released in stores also on 28th June, and will include a selection of bonus features at a cost of $19.99 (£10).
We have been unable to confirm that the release date for the expansion pack will be the same for us folks here in Europe, but given Microsoft's tendencies to release products worldwide on the same day, it would seem likely. Article posted 26th March 2005 by rparnell.
