EA announces EA Sports Cricket 2005

EA Sports challenges English cricket fans to take on the Aussies this summer.

CHERTSEY, Surrey. – April 21, 2005 – Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that EA SPORTSTM Cricket 2005, from the makers of the hit franchises FIFA, NBA LIVE and EA SPORTSTM Rugby, currently is under development at EA Canada and HB Studios for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Xbox® videogame system from Microsoft and PC.

EA SPORTSTM Cricket 2005 will let gamers compete as a fully licensed English team against a host of international opponents including Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. In addition the all-new explosive Twenty20 tournament and all the county teams and tournaments will also be on offer.

"Cricket 2005 will be the benchmark for cricket games to come" said Andrew Wilson, senior producer, EA Canada. Not only does the game look spectacular, bowlers now have easy to access individual repertoires and batsman have far more control including the ability to dive into the crease to prevent an imminent run out.

All new detail in players' faces and bodies, over 1000 new motion captured animations and a brand new create-a-player facility allow gamers flexibility to play as the stars of the game or create their own.

With TV style presentation, over 35 stadiums from all over the world and commentary from the legendary Richie Benaud EA SPORTS delivers the definitive interactive Cricket experience.
